A Minolta 50mm, a set of tools, and a first step into the wonderfully small world of lens repair.
Well, hello.
I’m Brandon.
Musician. Filmmaker. Engineer.
Freemason. Maker. Endlessly curious human.
This is a small home for the things I make, the ideas I’m turning over, and the life happening in between. Pull up a chair. Get to know me.
Come on in
at home.⌁
A few things
that make me, me.
I’m Brandon Mahlon Detra, and I’ve never been especially good at having just one interest.
I play saxophone and a small gathering of other instruments. I make films, write software, take things apart, and occasionally put them back together. Give me an interesting problem and I’ll probably end up making something.
The connecting thread? Paying attention. To how something works. To what makes a piece of music move you. To the good in people that’s easy to overlook.
Freemasonry is a big part of that life: fellowship, service, and putting the lessons of the Craft into practice.
Follow your curiosity.
A few different doors into the same person.
No particular order. No need to hurry.
Like any good home, this one is still being made.
Currently on my desk.
Sometimes an invention begins with wanting one small moment to feel a little more beautiful.
Saxophones, a crooning voice, and the joyful business of getting a Christmas concert together.
This place doesn’t have to be finished.
Neither do we.
